Explorations Into Liminality

Webs and Words for Wednesday

An homage to the spider energy in my path...literally. These webs, replete with large arachnids were in my back yard; I came across them while taking a break from the spider-themed custom witch hat I'm working on. Special thanks to Peter Ferioli for the fantastic photography. To Unlock the Soul pendant from my shop.

A noiseless patient spider,

I mark’d where on a little promontory it stood isolated,

Mark’d how to explore the vacant vast surrounding,

It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself,

Ever unreeling them, ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you O my soul where you stand,

Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space,

Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them,

Till the bridge you will need be form’d, till the ductile anchor hold,

Till the gossamer thread you fling catch somewhere, O my soul.

The webs are beautiful - but the makers of the web made looking at this a wee bit difficult. I know - my fault for not recognizing their beauty... My garden is full of them too and I always look forward to seeing the webs full of dewdrops in autumn...
Love the pendant!!

The pendant is awesome!! As for the spiders...they are a marvel at architecture and I've found this summer that there are so many large webs and larger spiders about -- more than usual.

guh! I'm mad over your hats!!!

I love the connection you feel with spiders and webs, I'm afraid in real life they make me shiver!

Wait, I missed the Bee post AND the Spider post? Yeesh, this summer's been brutal.

I love love love the arachnids! There's one family lives in the grandfather clock in our living room, and another that passes down the corner of our hallway. We've never had to use pesticides in this house. ;)

And there's a really ambitious set of orb spiders who like to spread their webs across the cattle gate. If it ever works, they'll eat like kings...
