Halloween Wanna Be

I only ever wear a witch hat for Halloween. Well, I mean, I wear clothes too, not *just* a witch hat, but I don't dress up like something or someone else. I am what I am, and donning my favorite pointy hat is really all I can do these recent years.

But if I were to get to be someone else for a night, it would have to be the one and only Kate Bush. If you don't know Kate, I have no idea how to introduce you. Not everyone *gets* Kate. But those who do, well...we're never the same.

{Let me just say here, that if you do not like Kate, DO NOT tell me. I seriously don't want to know this about you. If you do love Kate, we're bff's and don't you know it.}

Kate loves to play dress up, and here are some costumes I could choose from for my Night-of-Being-Kate:

This image stuck with me really early on, and I actually have a tattoo that was inspired by Bat-Kate.

But I already have a pointy hat...

Yes, love this hat to death.

Love me some chain maille.

Me-Ow.

Forest Fairy. Yeah, that'll work.

But the Kate I think I'd like to be this year is in the following video. Come to think of it, this would be a gorgeous way to meet her if you haven't made Kate's acquaintance already.

Enjoy The Sensual World...

I have to say...very cool costumes and head dresses here...However, I must agree with you...the forest fairy is what I'm talking about! I absolutely love that! Have a wonderful week and keep creating your magic!
Cheers!

The Forest Fairy was my favorite!

Julie, I have to say that I did not know who Kate Bush was but after seeing the video, I am in love with her music! I am going to order one of her CD's off Amazon. Thank you so much for introducing me to her music :)

Waah, I've never heard Kate Bush! And I can't watch the video or do music downloads or any such. Does this mean we can't keep being friends?!?

I don't know why you don't wear your hat more often-- if I had a Mermaiden hat, I would wear it to the store!:D That'd get some service...

I guess it would be completely predictable for me to say that I love the maille. lol. I must say, that I LOVE her theatricality. I'm going to have to look her up and give a listen to more of her stuff.

Isn't she just the most unique person? Have to say that I don't have any of her music, but I do love coming across her - she's like a perpetual surprise!

Love the velvet dress in this video!

I've always loved Kate Bush -- not only can she sing, she is a consummate artiste...she creates herself over and over and that just amazes me!
(I'm glad that you wear clothes and your point hat...I mean, naked and a hat is fine..unless you are answering the door to trick or treaters!!!) :)

Funny, you know, to discover your blog that way ! I have been a fan of Kate's for decades... I discovered her with the Wuthering heights video. I wanted to look like her too. ;)

Your art is gorgeous and I'll keep in touch to see more. ;)

Y'know, I know the name Kate Bush. According to Hubby, we even have some of her cassette tapes (from his old collection) - how come I never listened to her before. I'm totally intrigued. Thanks!
Like you, for many many years it was a given that I would dress in my witch hat for Halloween. The deal was, I had to dress in a costume (muggle) all year long, and Halloween was the only time I could dress as MYSELF! :)
A few years ago I started to branch out though, channel other parts of who I am. It's been fun - I've been a pirate, a faery, La Calavera Catrina.

Me again, hi! Two things.
1. My pendant came today. It's so sweet, I love it. I posted about it on my studio blog - http://laumesstudio.blogspot.com

2. You are in SF area, right? Okay, so no excuse. You totally have to drag the family and come to Faerieworlds next year. I have a feeling you are a natural for loving it. Or maybe don't wait for next summer. We'll be attending the Winter Balls. http://www.faerieworlds.com/winter/good.html

Julie,
I do love Kate Bush! All the way back to "Running Up That Hill" and "Cloudbusting", all the way to "Prelude" from "Aerial-A Sky of Honey"! We mixed that with a piano piece from the soundtrack from the movie "Amelie" and that was the music my husband and I were married to!!!!

I can totally understand wanting her to be your inspiration for a costume!!
